Compost not breaking down.?
I have two combo compost tumblers/compost tea makers. In both, the compost has stopped breaking down. They say the process should take a few weeks. It’s been months with two big black blobs in these tumblers. I tried activator.
We had been putting food scraps (all vegetable, some egg shells) in them. Put some shredded paper in last fall. We haven’t put anything in through the winter.
Put in some earth. Introducing the microbs that facilitate decomposition. Should be a ratio of one part organic matter, one part earth and one part green matter. Must be turned frequently and kept moist but not wet..
