What do you think are the best promotional items for a business?

Custom tshirts, travel mugs, totebags, magnets, something else?
Based on any that you have received in the past from other businesses, what attracted you the most? Or does it depend solely on the business’ main product?

My brother sells those promotional item do-dads. He goes to the client, and the two of them figure out what to get, based on the client’s budget, product, clientele, etc. There are bazillions of different things to get!!!
